During years of colubrids and rosies and more recently a few BCI, I somehow stayed away from carpet pythons thinking they were too unweildy (spelling?) and possibly mean. After reading this forum for awhile and then temporarily keeping a coastal carpet python for someone for about 6 weeks (really nice snake), I've changed my mind. I just ordered a baby coastal for myself, and I got some nice caging from www.herpcages.com. Pics in the near future. If the snake I kept for the 6 weeks is any indication of a typical adult carpet python, I think I found THE best all-around snake for what I was looking for - somewhat sizeable but not too big or dangerous for one person to handle, trustworthy, has easily-met care requirements, feeds easily and is just plain interesting. Shouldn't have waited so long.
