Oily substance in burms water dish?

cito Nov 21, 2003 02:57 PM

The past few days i have found an oily substance on top of my burms water dish. Each day i give him new water, and the next day there is still a light oily substance on it. Its not like the colorfull purple and pink oil from cars but more like silvery. Any idea what this might be from?

I had a similar thing happen with my anaconda. A kinda gross oily substance was in the water and on the snake. It was a PITA to clean up. I checked with my vet (Scott Stahl for those in the vet know....one of the best) and he said it was digestion related, nothing to worry about. Basically an oily biproduct of the prey. You might want to switch prey providers and see if it goes away.
