fruitfly media and mites

first what is the best media and can i add food coloring to make the larva easier to see?

How do you tell if you have mites in your culters or not?

I just got mine froma company i found that there were complaints in the past about mites.

Well, I dont really see the point, but I dont see any dangers in adding a drop of food coloring to a culture.

If you have mites, you will see them. They are tiny, but not microscopic. Usually white in color and they will be everywhere. Rather disturbing to say the least.
