Midland brown snakes?

daduru Nov 21, 2003 04:13 PM

has anyone ever kept midland brown snakes. i found two the other day and from what i read it seemed they are pretty boring. i was just curious if anyone has any experience with them. they look pretty cool but don't hold a candle to the kings and the activity of my garters. will they ever eat mice or fish or are they strictly insctivores/worms?

Browns are mostly timid insectivores. They don't make bad pets if you can get them to eat, but not all do. Lots of people use them as feeders for corals and other snakes. I've kept 'em for a while. They don't make bad pets usually, you just never see them, which is the case for many snake species anyway. But if you are looking for something that gets a little larger and eats vertebrate prey, I would probably look elsewhere. Andy
