U. Phantasticus tank lighting???

thundergibbon Jun 01, 2003 06:13 AM

Hi there,
At room temp I have achieved the perfect temp and humidity for my pair of phantasticus but it is not lit up. Can anyone suggest a way of lighting up the tank without heating it? I have tried a low watt bulb but it pushes the temp too high.

Thanks.

Justin

My room for all of my leaftails isn't perfect" but they seem to thrive in their setup.my ebauni (i know they are not the same as phantsticus but close enough)they are in my room in the basement. they are misted 2 times a day, fan on twice a day, and have 25 watt day cycle and a fifteen watt night cycles. i also have the tanks heavily planted with pothos. as soon as can get a camera that works i will try to get pictures of my setups. what is youre setup like.

Hey,
I don't know if you've tried this or not yet, but in all my enclosures that need to maintain a specific temperature, I use flourescent bulbs attached in one of those "desk mounters". It's hard to describe, but you mount above a desk that you want lit up. The things that I realized would benefit you are the fact that flourescent lights give off an almost negligible amount of heat, as well as they are bright enough to see throughout the enclosure, but for phantasticus you only want to have as little light as necessary, as they can be easily stressed out by overly bright lights.
If you want more info I can probably dig up the box that the lights came in to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Good Luck

Ian

Hi there, thanks for your reply.
If you could find out the description from the box that would be great.
Do you have any pics of your setup?

Justin
