02 Vanishing Stripe pic....

Yasser Nov 21, 2003 07:32 PM

This is a male vanishing stripe we've got. He's got an older girl waiting for him when he's ready as well as a sister....eww.
I have always been a fan of striped corns but these vanishing ones take the cake.
If all goes well, I will be breeding our adult female to our friends male and we'll be splitting the clutch. I can't wait!
Hope ya like!

I'm totally green with envy!!! I love those, I've been trying for a couple of breeding seasons now to get some of those from Ronda.

BEAUTIFUL snake you have there!

That is a beautiful animal.

Is the vanishing stripe genetic? Otherwise, how will you know if a clutch has a mix of striped and vanishing striped?

This trait is definitely genetic but there is also a bit of variability within the clutches too. Some are hatched with virtually no striping to start while other exhibit a decent stripe but it fades with age. But even the ones with stronger striping as hatchlings don't look anywhere near what a normal striped looks like.
We were originally planning to cross our adult female to a regular striped albino just to see if it is compatible and if so, how the babies would turn out. But then we found out that a good friend had a very nice male from the same blood as our yearling pair so we decided to use his this season and we'll split the clutch.
They are very cool snakes with very strong vigor. I can't wait to mix them up into other morphs.
