Please Settle an argument

devilish1182 Nov 22, 2003 01:13 AM

I have been arguing with my brother for several years now because he said he saw on the national geographic channel that there was a type of boa or python that was poisonous. I said that he was wrong because constrictors kill prey by constricting and suffocating them and would therefore have no need for venom. I think he might be thinking of the ETB as venomous because its long teeth can cause infections. Who is right me or him.

Some venomous snakes do constrict. One which comes to mind is the False Water Cobra.

Just how close do you want it to be, to be a locale breeding?
Careful now - We wouldn't want to breed related animals.

Lots of constricting colubrids are very slightly venomous. So just because boids don't have it doesn't mean it wouldn't help them out. But you're right, they don't.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
