That you see all of these people in the classifieds and such, selling "proven breeder" monitors, ackies in particular. Where are all of these babies that these monitors produced??? So, is this some kind of new marketing ploy, to get people to gt your average, unwanted former pet monitors?? I just find it kind of funny to see all of these people who are proven varanid breeders, but no babies.... hmmmm..

They claim alot of things to sell an animal faster or make it seem worth more. If someone even makes claims of CB monitors I ask for proof, 99% of them get threatening or one actually claimed the pictures he emailed me were his house and his monitor cages, only they were FR house and cages, the guy claimed thats where he bred his savannahs, only the adults just recently died so only babies are left. Ask for proof when these scam artists make claims, ask for pics or video of adults, eggs being layed, eggs incubating, eggs hatching, an egg shell to prove it, ask where all of the other hatchlings are, etc etc. These scam artists will threaten you for challenging, and lie but you can easily catch them lieing. If these were proven breeders, why would they be for sale?

In most cases, if one individual monitor climbs on top another, its proven. If one lays a blob in the middle of a cage, its proven. If something pops out the side of their bum, its proven. And yes, you are right, its a selling ploy.

In reality, I would rather obtain unproven, healthy babies over proven individuals. No questions asked. Which means, I do not care if they are abused or not. Babies are much better, They simply are not prejudiced. F

I think some people interpret breeding differently.
For example, some people would call your male beccari a proven breeder because he copped the females.
Some people call females that get copped, proven breeders.
Some people get infertile eggs and call their animals proven breeders.
There are even some well respected folks who claim to have bred animals, but never hatched anything.
To me, a proven breeder is a female that produces viable clutches of eggs that hatch.

Babies that live. A baby that hatches and dies is the same as one that died in the egg and the same as an infertile egg. All produce no living animal. F
