What do think is the minimum size/age of sexual maturity of male and female H. simus. Does anyone know of any that have bred in their 3rd year after being cooled in their 2nd winter ?

I can't help you with simus per se, but female Western hogs are known to clutch at only 16" (and nasicus are a considerably larger snake). With that tidbit of info, I would assume (big assumption) that a female simus would be capable of clutching at about 14". For the male, two full years of healthy growth before cooling would probably be adequate. Hopefully some of the experienced simus breeders will add to this thread. Shane
The age sounds fine. I would just be sure they have some size. Males can go prety yooung. I would say the minimum on females would be about 10-12" depending on how thick they are. How big are your guys? Any pics?

uhh... I think that is it.
I did the ol switcheroo! That was the first mouse that picky simus ever took. She only ate LIVE toads for her first 10 months in captivity! She wanted no part of any mice or thawed toads!
What I did was rub the toad on the snake head...when she went to go bite it, i stuck the mouse there and she latched on. Since this shot last year, she has become one of my best feeders, gorging on scented mice with no questions asked!
