Gilbery007 Nov 22, 2003 10:32 AM

Ok i have my tank set up and the temps drop to about 85F and then go up to about 95F is this ok i have a pulse proportional thermostat also i have split my tank into two halves now so i can quarantine my 2 females. Is this also ok to split a 30gallon aqaurium into two halves??? or should i house them completely seperately in rubbermaid tubs? How many hides do i need to each leo?1 warm hide, 1 cool hide and a moist hide, half on the cool and half on the hot?is this correct sorry about all the questions but my setup's must be dead right. thx again Gilbery007

For leopard geckos, you want it a bit cooler. 88-90 on the warm side, 80 on the cool side. Otherwise sounds fine though your quarantine won't be quite as good as you might hope since they're in the same cage although separated. The best thing is to use totally separate rooms! That isn't always possible though and splitting the tank is better than no quarantine at all.

Cardboard as a warm hide is fine. I use toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls all the time. Since they are disposeable, I change them often which is a good thing to do also.

A hide on the warm side, a hide on the cool side, and a moist hide for each is good. I often put the moist hide halfway onto the heat source also. Try to place the hides so they don't see each other while using them (it may help lower stress levels).

Good luck, keep asking questions!
