i remember a while back i saw a pick showing the tail of a res, it said depending on where the hole is...its either a male or female, anyone have a pic of that...or can anyone explain it to me, thanks

Sure, If the hole is at the base of the tail even with the
edge of the shell it is a female. If the tail is longer and
the hole is out toward the middle (distal) it is a male
