To FR,Rat zoo,and Yawn a ray.I clearly stated with the picture that Sweetpea had just eaten a big meal.So if you ever interacted with your monitors, you should know what they look like after a big meal(I hope).Don't blame the picture, think before you type or maybe don't respond to posts if you have nothing to add.If I say my monitor hasn't eaten for a week,it might look a little thin It's all about the temps.Sweetpea ate 4 rats today and is ravenous for food. She doesn't even need to walk to California to burn it off(like was suggested before)hmmmmmmmm, maybe others should re-check their temps also or just NOT respond, just to make snide comments.Just a suggestion on my humble part.

hey if you go back and re-read through that thread you'll notice I was typing to someone else, not you.

what the big deal is, who really cares? Why do you even care what was said months ago.

But, I have never fed a meal that has caused a thin monitor to become round like that, but I don't feed huge meals, I feed small meals more often. Sure I have fat lizards, I also have thin lizards, and ones in between.

When I have seen balloon monitors like that, they have been (so far) females, retaining fat I presume for reproduction. I have not seen my monitors to become thin after a week with no food, I really do not think that is a long time, monitors are still reptiles, and energy use/conservation is one of their strong points.

Just curious about you and FR.Makes you wonder who actually cares about the monitors MORE!

FR Nov 22, 2003 04:16 PM

By the way, the upper, hahahahahahahaha, was meant for you.

Now about this hahahahahahahahaha, Lets just say, you care ten times more about your monitors then I do. Got it. Now, who cares? what does caring have to do with it. oh no, its a tina turner song. Hey, I once was in the row at a tina turner performance. Right in the front row. (Bob urker is back row)

Now ask yourself, shouldn't you have done much more with your monitors in all those years? You know, you care so much. Again, whats does, care got to do with it.

One good thing about monitors is they make you laugh. hahahahahahahahahaha, I guess it doesn't always work. hehehehehe F

I've burned monitors. I've killed monitors. I've had monitors put down. I've had monitors fail. I've starved monitors for weeks on end. I've had monitors beat each other up so bad I still can't get the blood stains off the enclosure. I've cut open dead monitors. I've gotten infertile clutches. I've been wrong about sexes. I've been wrong about just about everything I have done. Heck, I've just killed two monitors recently within a week of getting them. Am I happy about any of this?

But the real question is what does any of this have to do with this thread, that YOU created? (about fat monitors)

Maybe you did the other stuff, RB, but the last two were already killed when you got them. You gave them a safe place to rest, IMO. Sheesh, I thought I was hard on myself..
You just cut that out. I know that when we accept an animal into our care, we become responsible for them, blah, blah, blah, but you did not seek those two out, it was with full knowledge they were failing. You did good.
D.

I knew what I was getting into, and I could have walked away. But, it was my feeling that I did have a chance of saving both, and I still feel that was the case, I just made a couple of wrong decisions. Not anything that I am losing sleep over (now), but something I should remember to hopefully improve my husbandry.

Thanks Goon,
