Anyone use "Yesterdays News" as a substrate?

I just found it suggested on a couple of sites and thought I would check with the experts!

I use it for my ferret! Anyway, I just started using a similar product on my adult beardies called cell-sorb plus. It has worked great so far and combats odors real well.

I use it for my guinea pigs mixed with pine shavings. I wouldn't recommend it personally, for bearded dragons, due to the fact it would be hard to spot clean any poo, though you could look for swelled up pellets to indicate where moisture was absorbed. There could still be a chance they may try to eat small pieces and you wouldn't want that to happen, since it would swell up in their stomach and intestines.

It may be perfectly find for dragons, but I wouldn't risk it.

I have thought of the same concerns you would have with cel-sorb. I decided to use it anyway. If you drop it in water it breaks up very easily. It actually has made spot cleaning easier for me, because it clumps. They do ingest by accident once in a while and seem to have no problem with it. I would think it is close to impossible for this product to cause impaction, I feel the same way about sand, which I raise my babies on. More often than not a case of impaction is caused by something lacking in other aspects of husbandy such as temps. and hydration, rather than the substrate the animal is kept on.
