I have three small red eared sliders and two of them both stopped eating about three days ago. They both seem pretty healthy besides that. One is haveing a small problem with is eyes every once in awhile other than that and not eating they ahve about the same habits as before. What is wrong??

Hey,

Could you give us some information on your setup? Like temperature, water quality, diet, basking spots, etc? Just to help better assess the situation.

The temperature is around 80 most often, water quality is pretty good, they ahve basking spots(but they rarely totally out of the water to use them.they eat mostly turtle pellets but also have shrimp and crickets. I bought these at a beach store this summer and really didn;t even know what kind they were i researched a lot to find out what i do know. I would understand one of them not eating but two at the same time and not the third one i don;t.

I would love to hear Steve reply to this question, because I think he is smart. My little turtles are not eating either (stopped suddenly) but are behaving otherwise normal. Is it true that some turtles eat little or nothing during the winter even when kept indoors?

As long as temperatures are warm. Water at least 72-74
and there is a proper basking area, RES should eat. Mine
will devour anything, anytime, winter or summer.

One thing you did not mention is their photoperiod. Do you
turn the lights off at night and let the water temp drop some?
Photoperiods are necessary for healthy turtles. You need
to go through your set-up step by step as I suspect something
is wrong somewhere.

Please post with other questions as necessary.

I turn a black light on them at night, the temp does go down a little at night though.
