If you could only have 1 place to go...

Where would you go and why?

If it was me, I would probably pick
the Boy Scout Road. Its a very interesting road.
It emcompasses 2 different microhabitats
and has a wide variety of fauna to check out.

Because right now I want to catch one to add to the group I got from Dan Johnson. Plus there is alot of variety there.
Also I've been wondering, where is Shumla Cyn.? You said you caught a grayband there and I've never heard of it.

I believe it's just west of the Pecos river.......on 90....

I'm in Aaron's camp on this one. I've seen a greater variety of herps there than any other place in the Trans-Pecos. In fact, I found a freshly hit alterna the very first night I ever drove it, and a 5 foot plus suboc that same night. 'Tis a very special place to me.

DOR Black Gap alterna that's a bummer. The one time I hunted there we found a lepidus. I hear they're not too common there either.

Hey Steve, not trying to stir things up here BUT between myself, Dan Johnson Norm Nunley and other "regular" hunters on the Gap there's never been a documented DOR on Black Gap. Of course there's a super slim possibility of that happening but do you have any confirmation [witnesses and/or photos]? Just hard for me to swallow. Makes a good story though. "Hey guys I hunted Black Gap last night, found a live suboc and one dead alterna" Yea right!

For me; it's a tossup between Boy Scout Rd, River Road and 277. Drawbacks: B/S Rd: In 2001 my son and I drove up to the "pool/rock area" left of road near B/S camp entrance. A jeep pulled up and I was advised I was trepassing and could be arrested - I promptly thanked for info and left.
River Rd: If you haven't seen Lajitas lately, you're in for a surprise - urban-mania development and law enforcement stoping vehicles.
277: Great, other than the semi's rolling past.
Lol: take your pick this year.
All the best to West Texas Herpers,
Bill
