a different appearance of Sumatran short-tail python

This is a normally occurring appearance of adult Sumatran short-tailed pythons in southern Sumatra. There the black color phase is the more common appearance, but these guys are there too.

Hey Dave,
She is a stunning looking girl or boy! One of my girls looks a lot like her, but the head on my big girl goes from very silvery grey, "Chrome", to a darker grey. The cooler they are the darker their heads get and over all color, as they increase the albedo. got to love these guys. Why do you think there is such a shortage, of Black colored Sumatran short tails in the country?

What a lovely cocoa darling! Can you give us any more detail on where in southern Sumatra this particular type is found? Is it a separate population from the darker animals, or are both color phases present within the same range?

Thanks so much for sharing such a gorgeous animal with the rest of us - that was truly a pleasure to see!!!
