Stuck egg in Variable king

mossman Jun 01, 2003 09:42 AM

One of my female variable king snake layed eggs on Thursday. She layed 5 eggs total. 4 good and 1 bad. The problem though is that at the base of her tail directly in front of the vent it looks like an egg is stuck there. I left the laying box in the enclosure and am keeping it moist but she doesn't seem to be interested in laying that egg. I have bred for 3 years w/ no problems and I have never heard of this happening and never personaly seen this. It looks very uncomfortable and I imagine that it must not be a good thing. What should I do? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I also have a pueblan milk with an egg stuck in her. 9 eggs came out good and the last one is stuck. She laid on the May 22. Any helpful info would be appreciated.

Hi,
Give her a couplw arm water soaks, and then try to very gentlly massage the egg out, after the warm water soak. If you cannot get it to come out then take her to a vet, i had a pyro die from egg-binding last year, she laid one-(a bad egg) and had 5 left in her. Good luck,

I went ahead a stuck a needle between her ventral scales and sucked the inside of the egg out. We'll see if she can pass the rest herself.
