Sources for musk turtles

blisterbug Nov 23, 2003 01:51 PM

I am considering setting up a large tank for a turtle or two. I have kept a few species of young turtles over the years and always released them when they outgrew their tank. Now I want to keep one permanantly, and I think a musk turtle would be ideal since they are small. I would like to get a razorback or loggerhead, maybe some other kind. What is the smallest? Where can I get one? Any tips or advice welcome.

All are smallish and easy to keep. And yes, they can be kept quite healthy for decades in indoor aquaria if set up properly.

Common musks would be the smallest with loggerheads and stripenecks second.

You might try Eric at www.empireoftheturtle.com. He is very credible and everything I have got from him has been flawless.
