I think baby leo is blind>>>

bigdee Nov 23, 2003 02:42 PM

I have 2 babies one born few weeks before the other but is much smaller from not eating. I fed them crickets and its like he senced the crickets and started to shake his tail like they do before they crabe a food item but its like he could not tell where the cricket was. The other leo seems to be able to focus and catch the crickets. Now the one I suspect is blind, his eyes look really funny, I cant see the catlike retina part of the eye like I can see with the other loes and it looks dry. I think this leo may have lived this long (couple mths or so)on water and maybe an acasional cricket he may catch by the cricket being really close. What can I do? I will try to post some pics with my digi cam.

what do you think

Honestly I don't think the leo would have gotten to be that big if it were blind. There is no size reference, but tail isn't skinny. One question I would ask is...Is there possibly a piece of dry shed stuck on the eye? You might try pulling the back legs off of crickets, or see if you can get him to take a few waxworms!
