Another bad shed

Passport Nov 23, 2003 08:54 PM

Lucille had to undergo another bad shed and I had to soak her and rub with wet towel to remove it. Is this stressful for her? Her enclosure is a 20gal long tank with screen top. I have covered some of it with plexiglass but obviously the humidity is not up to par for her. I am seriously considering using a plastic tub for her keep. Which is better? I enjoy seeing her from time to time in her tank but perhaps I am being selfish and she should be moved into something that would hold more humidity. Whatcha think?

How long have you had your ball in the tank?

I have mine ina 30gl long with a screen top with some of it partially covered as well. My balls are 4 mnths. One didn't have it's first complete shed until it's third time. The humidity has been consistent between 50-80%. My balls are now shedding completely.

I think the tank could work out, but your Ball may just need some more time to get used to it. Also, you could create a water hiding spot - a completely covered soaking spot that the snake could hide in, they often will soak if they feel secure enough to do so.

If you know the humidity is sufficient, and your snake eats on a regular cycle, and receives the proper heat and light cylces, then it should be a matter of time to get him up to speed. Keep me informed.
