good idea? bad idea?

spec Jun 01, 2003 11:30 AM

I know I ask a lot of questions on here, but that should be expected from new beardie owners who care enough about their pets to learn new things as often as possible.
If anyone has read my posts before you know I've been having trouble getting Zeffer to eat properly. I've tried everything. One day it will work the next it won't. He's been to the vet and had a clean fecal.
As most of you know, getting a beardie to start eating veg is a royal pain. I recently started using parazap and ordered him some wax worms and mealworms to try to stimulate his appetite.
Now, I started putting the mealworms and waxworms into his salad in an attempt to get him to eat his veg. Is this a good idea? or do you think he'll just pick through the salad to get to the worms? I was hoping that when he went for a worm he would get some of the salad too and maybe(hopefully) like it enough to eat on his own. I THINK I noticed him eating a couple pieces of the salad, but I can't be sure. Was just wondering if anyone else has used this method before or if it's a bad idea.
Thanks in advance.

Sure I've used that method. He will most likely pick out the worms at first, but he will know that there is food in that place. Dragons seem to get into a eating and basking routine. Try to feed it at the same time daily. I usally offer greens and veggies in the morning, and leeve it in there all day for them to pick on. Crickets get fed to them twice a day when young. Just make sure to chop the veggies up small. I usally put the greens on the bootom and put some chopped up squash, sweet potato, apple on top to add some color, and sweetness to it. The color and taste seems to attracked them to it. Hope this helps. Good luck. It's tricky sometimes to get them to eat it, some like it from a young age some grow into it.
