New to Milks............milk or ball?

delacrooshweez Nov 24, 2003 03:25 AM

I was thinking about getting a baby pueblan milk snake but i need to hear some opinions...right now i have a normal baby corn snake and it is great with handling..are pueblans pretty easy to handle compared to a corn? and on average how big can they get?...im deciding on either the pueblan or a ball python right now..any suggesstions?

Pueblans are NOT good handling snakes. They are high strung and struggle violently when handled and will dive out of their cages when they are opened.

If you want a "tame" milksnake that you can handle, I would suggest a Sinaloan or Mexican Milk. You will be much happier.

I was thinking the same thing, and got a ball python.

Milksnakes are goregous snakes, but are high strung and do not like to be held. When I was looking, I held a Pueblan and it went nuts on me. It was more like holding a fish than a snake the way it was flipping around. It also musked me.

I'm thinking that sometime down the road I may still get a milk, but they are certainly not snakes you want to handle like BP's.

I guess it just depends on what you want.

Go for a honduran. I was thinking of getting a pueblan but the one I tried to hold was so wiggly I decided not to. I bought a honduran tangerine dream instead. He is very pretty. He was a bit wiggly at first, I think most babies are, but has calmed down quite a bit and I can hold him with out hanging on to him for dear life. He is also very beautiful! I've read and heard ball pythons have feeding difficulties.
