Uroplatus phantasticus.

juksu Nov 24, 2003 03:29 AM

Hello ewerybody.
I have some questions about U.phantasticus (satanic leaf-tail gecko).

So I'd like to know where U.phantasticus is exactly from, I know that it's from Madagaskar but is it south, north or where??

And second question is that how vital is UVB lighting?
I have read that UVB light helps egg production (info is needed because I got a pare so I will try to breed them soon).

If enybody knows some good reading or websites please tell me (I have allredy read Robert Gundys care sheets).
Cheers! Sami

And heres a pic of my male.

dont know exactly where they are from but think it is southern madagascar. u v lighting helps out alot i tnhink and i use it on all my uroplatus,. most of my leaftails dont hide from it and i have seen my females bask in it when gravid. ione female is currently gravid and is sitting pretty close to the light as i am writing this.i belive that uv lighting is benifecial to this species.good luck breeding them and if you go to global gecko asssociaton they have a book there on only leftails.i havent got it yet but it should be a good read. try a seasonal thing with yopur geckso and now is breeding season over there. good luck and hope you can breed them.

They come from eastern Madagascar(south is too hot for them)
UV lighting is beneficial for them as landsnails are for gravid females.
Hope that it will help,
Fred.
