50/50 male

BrianD Nov 24, 2003 08:30 AM

I was cleaning out my photo gallery and remembered that I never posted these pics here. This guy is getting big! He is now taking small rats and will definitely be breeding size for next year. I'm feeding him about once every 10 days and right now he weighs around 750 grams.

This is posted as 50/50 male. what Is he two carpets of?

BrianD Dec 06, 2003 01:16 AM

Well 50/50 refers to his pattern being 50% yellow and 50% black. I've also heard them refered as high yellow, but most people call them 50/50's.

OK, that make sense. I have a jungle female and a coastal male, and was told they could breed. Have you heard of any crosses like this. I have seen a few dimond X jungles, but no coastals. I don't know if is a smart move. you
have a very pretty snake there. thanks for the info.

Hey Bill, I wouldn't recommend that at all. Selective breeding is very important. Those diamond x jungles don't sell either. It is tempting to breed something just because you can, but it is kind of looked down upon. Instead I would focus on something within the same group. Like I am going to breed my 50/50's to super yellow mates in hopes to get very yellow 50/50's. Or you could breed a striped coastal to yours to try to get stripes, that type of thing. Here is a link to a site that you should post that question in and you will get a lot of good advice:
