Male crestie constantly licking himself

eveliina Nov 24, 2003 08:33 AM

I've noticed that my male nearly every night licks his hemipens(I'm not sure what they are called in english?). Is he normal or should I get worried? He lives alone and eats well and seems healthy.

Am I just beeing paranoid again?

Well, heres a new pic of my boy also, should I fatten him more?

Thanks,
Eveliina

One of my leopard geckos was doing the same thing. He turned out to have pinworms. I have limited crested gecko experience, so cannot say whether that behavior is more common among cresties.

Good luck!

Yes, its normal. Has it been breeding with a female? They often only clean it after mating.

Nothing to be too concerned about.

I got him in september from Germany so I don't know too much about his past, but he is adult so who knows what he has been doing before . But here he has been living all alone since I don't have any females (well at least yet, I have two babies which I hope will grow up to be his girlfriends).

I've never had male gecko before so I am worried about everything that females don't do. I have seen my female leos lick their butts few times but it is nothing compared to this male crestie.

Thanks,
Eveliina
