Tylan is not used much anymore for reptiles. I would take the snake to the vet he could do a culture and sensitvity of the lungs and find the best drug for the infection.

This is going to be my first time usen Tylan.

I have a ball that has a RI for one month now, a culture was done and it has pseudomonas aeruginosa. ( gram - )

I treated the snake with baytril (enrofloxacin 2.5 mg kg IM q 24h) and amikacin ( amiglyde sulfate 5 mg/kw q 74h ) for two weeks.

By now the discharge is gone but the snake still has problems breathing, congestion stills present and snake is not eating.

I've read that Tylan is a great treatment for Gram-positive bacteria and some gram - species, I also heard that it is very good for anorexic animals.

I'm going to start with 25mg/kg Im q 72h.

I'll keep you updated.

Thanks for your helph.

Was the Pseudomonas shown to be sensitive to Amikacin and Enrofloxacin that combination should have worked. Tylan is usally used for mycoplasmosis and is not shown to be effetive on pseudomonas. I would use a drug that the pseudomonas is shown to be sensitive to (there are many resistant strains out there). Ceftazidime and Piperacillin are often very effetive.

The correct dosage however for Tylan is 5 mg/kg IM q24h X 10-60d
