uv tube bulbs

i don't know if this is true or not, but i was told that some uv flourescent style bulbs will keep lighting but will only put out uv for 6 months. does anyone know if this is true?

Yes, the bulbs continually deteriorate, they don't stop giving off UVB completely but the amount will decrease to the point of it being ineffective. On mine, the ends of the tube start to turn black so you can tell they are getting old.
