How do people heat rubbermaids or sterilites?
Lights above, flexwatt, undertank heaters?
What's the best way to get ambiant heat and belly heat at the right temps. I have a thermostat and a few dimmers.
thanks,
mike

why are you using plastic containers? Are they in a rack system?
When using containers like that you HAVE to have a CONTROLLED heating source. You should use heat tape with a reliable controller to keep from overheating the container and killing your animals.
You could also use a human heat pad from Wal-Mart ($10-$15). I suggest you pay a little more than the low model because they freak out and over heat. They have good ones that are reliable though.
If you are not using a rack system I suggest you invest in cages.

I don't believe plastic containers are good. They hold the heat too much and it gets too hot in there. Hope you have VERY good ventilation.
i use em for both my boas....
i keep the tanks elevated above human heating pads on a rheostat...
they stay a pretty consitant temp.... but it took a long time to figure it out.... luckily i had the time to do it... took a few days....
i also have a 40 watt bulb over the venting on the top of both their cages.... that heats it a little higher durring the day and gives a nice timed light cycle....
i used heat registers for vents... they're actually pretty cool cages....
i still need to add plexi glass to one wall for a viewing window.
definatly don't get the cheapest heating pad though.
