First off, I want to thank everyone on this forum. The info I have recieved in the past has been great, Oliver (my Mali) thanks you too!
Anyhoo, my first question is: When do males (Malis) usually begin to show some kind of coloration? Oliver is about 9-10 months old and is not showing very much color. Also, when will he calm down? I know every Uro is different, but Oliver is a WILDMAN! My last question is: Am I doing everything right?

Here's my setup:
20gal long tank (will have a 40 breeder next month)
100watt (spot) T-Rex Merc. Vap. lamp
18in. Zoo-Med Reptilite 5.0
75watt ESU moonlight heatlamp
Reptilite "sand"
A large rock den
a few rocks
food dish

Here's what Oliver eats:
dandilion greens
collard greens
mustard greens
peas
yellow squash
ground lentels
ground garbanzo beans
1-3 small crickets a month

Your setup and uro diet sound good. I have a mali as well (a male, I believe) and have seen him getting in some color starting at about a year old. He started getting yellow overall and then some black started coming in.
If you check out www.deerfernfarms.com and read up on the Mali uro caresheet specifically, Doug describes the coloring process of both male and female malis.

How are you able to tell whether your mali is a male or a female? They are usually quite difficult to sex.

everything sound good to me

my mali doesnt have much color either,i think he/she is about a little over a year,a little black has been coming on the tail but thats it,40G breeders are awsome tanks,i have 2 and will have 2 more by the end of next month,my sister just got one of those crazy 2,000$ freedom breeder racks for her snakes and will recieve all her tanks including 2 vision style cages which are awsome good luck with your mali

mine where giving to mebut i have seen them at petcoand thier about 90.00 but some of them dont have thier tops and there close to impossible to replace

Hi,
I got mine (for my millipedes) at a local petstore. Both of the petstores around me have them, but not petco. Petco is so much more expensive. I paid $70 for it and $20 for the top, something like that. Check a small, privately owned petstore. They should carry a line of aquariums
