Naturalistic Vivariums.

Noodle_Boy Nov 24, 2003 02:43 PM

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone out there has tried the "Naturalistic Vivarium" setup as described in the leopard gecko manual. For those that don't know, this included a substrate mix of 2 parts sand, one part potting soil. Also, you could plant lives plants right into this substrate. I thought it sounded like a cool idea, and I am planning to give it a shot once my leo is full grown. I know there have been substrate wars all throughout this forum, but the 2 part sand 1 part potting soil mix does sound pretty safe.. And hey, to a lot of people on here the leopard gecko manual is god, so it couldn't be too unsafe.

Give it a try. I haven't used that mix with leos, but I'm trying something similar with my Uromastyx. So far they love it, they are making burrows and tunnels like mad.
good luck
