Here's the finished product of that cage I built for my friend. He's working on an epoxy waterfall that is not yet included. He's going to put Uroplatus spp. in there instead of the Jungle Carpet Python the cage was originally designed for.

Hi, great looking cage!!! I'm wondering about the glass doors. I want to build new wood habitats for my leopard geckos with sliding front glass doors......that lock. I have one gecko thats an escape artist hehehe, so having the doors lock would be great. Are yours on tracks or did you rotor out the wood? If its Ok could you send me some plans?
Thanks a million

Thanks for your comments. The construction was actually pretty easy. I have to give most of the finishing and decoration credit to my friend. He did an excellent job.
As far as the doors, these will certainly be escape proof for a leopard gecko. I've kept numerous reptiles behind similar setups with no escapes. I've only provided locks for the venomous species I've worked with.
However, nothing wrong with adding a lock for piece of mind. I've been told there is a child "lock" of some sort that locks these double sliding doors but I've not seen it. Similar to the locks that child-proof doors, etc. without actually locking.
Otherwise, my friend ordered the plastic track for this door and a lock from Rockler.com. I much prefer their plastic track to the similar product made by Knap and Vogt.
I have never routered hardwood for sliding tracks. I think if I were going to do that I'd just order hardwood track. But after seeing how good this rockler product looks against the stained oak I see no reason not to use the plastic stuff.
