kurt18 Nov 24, 2003 03:05 PM

I bought a Beardie from Lisa at Beginners Basics on Sunday. She is shipping it tonight so it can be here for tuesday. Well now it is snowing and i know she is going through some tought time so im not sure ill be able to contact her. Anyway, my question is, can she still send it if it is snowing here? I sent her an email but im not sure if she will get it before the mail guy comes to pick it up from her house. I feel really bad and hate to bother her cause i know this must be hard for her, can anyone give me some insight?

Lisa has shipped to Alaska. She knows to prepare for cold weather & will use heat packs. Don't worry.

I'm sending one to MI & one to NJ today and I'm sure they will get there just fine. "knock on wood".

Later.

definitely make sure you are home & check the door step every 15min. or so, just incase they leave the box outside without ringing the door bell. (it happens).

I agree...my BD came from Lisa and she does an excellent job at shipping.

On another note, about 7 years ago I bought a BD from a guy in California. My BD got stuck in Denver for 2 days during a blizzard that shut down their airport. He was not climate controlled, but arrived a few days later. I thought he was dead, but I cupped him in my hands right there in the airport and breathed warm air on him. In a few minutes he perked right up. He grew to be a healthy beautiful dragon.

So like Joel said, don't worry about your little guy. He'll make it just fine.

Now that I think about it,, maybe it was Hawaii she told me about shipping to???

In any case,, she knows how to pack them. lol.

Sorry for the confusion.

It was Alaska and I have also shipped to Washington state

Your baby will be fine, I have even run "tests" in the past in my freezer to see just how cold the outside temps can drop lol

He has just been boxed up and should be picked up within the next 5 - 10 minutes!!

I got an Email back from Lisa and she said she was prepared with a heat pack ready to go. I'm getting really nervous...not only is this my first bearded dragon, this is my first time receiving an animal through the mail. I think I've got the beginners jitters. If only I could get some sleep!

I watched the shipping tracking all night, was on the phone to them when it did not change fast enough for me. I had to work the next day, but had someone at home to receive the package. I should have stayed home, I got no work done as I was on the computer checking tracking or calling home to check the door.... LOL don't worry about being a nervous wreck, I think we all went through it..... come to think of it, still do!!

End of my story.... he arrive just prior to the deadline, I was sure he needed me there so I ended up leaving work early. When I got home, he was quiet happy and content in his enclosure, thought the world looked fine from his view and has never changed that outlook

But, we do understand I think it is part of what makes a good dragon keeper.
