hi all,

i'm breeding my own mealworms because of the leo and the FBTs that i have. both eat crickets, but i'm not much of a cricket-handling person i was wondering if it's okay to use mealworms as a staple diet for a crestie. thanks!

I would only use mealworms that have just molted. Definatly wouldnt use it as a staple though, theyre not like leos. Crickets is preffered, but if you dont like them, ive heard cresteds that have been only on the CGD and babyfood all their lives. Silkworms are a great addition to the diet aswell.

i have a bunch of mealworms, so i'll be sure to feed the newly molted ones also, i planned to provide the teaspoon of baby food 2x a week. i also have access to silk worms and will end up using those too. i had one question though - what's CGD?

The T-REX crested gecko diet you can get at pet stores. It's a powder you mix with water. Sandfire Dragon Ranch brings all of their cresties up on that stuff.

ohhh icic thank you for clearing that up i'll be using that too! i'll be adding a few crickets in the diet to add some variety, but i'm planning to keep that at a minimum - i've tried crickets before for my leo and it didn't really work out

If it is still growing, you might want to use the gargoyle diet. It has more protein than the CGD.

I actually did stay in bed and watch the Bond marathon, and slept alot. I was really laid out by this flu. I'm better now though, thanks for asking!
