~*PIC*~ of a new addition to go with my T. albino group from KN Reptiles...

Leo Lover Nov 24, 2003 03:16 PM

I got this female tremper tangerine albino from Nicole. I am very lucky to have this one as it will go great with my albino group in which in future breedings I hope to produce an all orange albino-or hybinos.

If you look at the pics she has nice tangerine coloration and also those pinks bands have faded some. She's an awesome gecko! I cant wait to see future offpsring from this one.

Thanx Nicole!

I'll get updated pics of the albino group (trio) I got from Sarah Stettler. Sarah if you are reading, you should see what they look like now! Bigger and better!
This gecko from Nicole will go perfect with them.

Hey,

WOW! nice!! Heheh man.. now that I've some of your geckos for the season!! lol cant wait to see what you produce.

Also what I wanted to ask was.. Are those albinos just that color from there genes, or has the Tremper method been applied? I'm not sure but I'm always scared when buying one of those "Hybinos" that its just because of tremper method... And that if you just incubate at normal temp. the babys wont look at all like that? Is this true??

...of the Tremper incubation method. I asked Nicole, and they are.

It doesn't bother me as I think geckos like this are very pretty and have vibrant colors, but I dont agree with the whole incubation method.

I tried it on a few and I got the same thing happen to me as what happened to Kelli Hammack...bad eggs, no hatch, etc...etc...I am sure you have seen pics of some of the people who posted on this forum who did the Tremper incubation thing. The babies came out deformed and so on...

However some of the people that I have talked to who have these big reptile facilities such as Nicole, she does the method while incubating the eggs on shelves in the room that stays warm. Hot air rises so keep the eggs near the top if you want to produce pretty albinos. She had no problem with this method at all. I wish I had that kind of facility like that.

However those hovabators can actually over shoot and kill the embryo. Not the safest there if you are using those to do the Tremper incubation method.

I am sure there is some kind of safe way of doing it, but I'm not about to risk it and find out for myself. I tried it as an expeirement on a few eggs and I lost those. What happened to me was that the eggs went bad or never hatched. I probably could have hatched those babies if it wasn't for the "expeirement" that I did, but I wanted to do it to try it myself. I wont be doing it again, unless I know there is a safe way of doing it with an incubator?

That is just my opinion.

However I probably will hatch out some really nice tang albinos, or maybe even hopefully some hypo albino since I have to incubate some of the eggs for male. I'll keep everyone updated on this project.

Thanx for the compliment on my geckos. I still have more pics coming....

I used a modified version of the tremper method with my hova-bator. Rather than jacking up the tem to 90 I gradually raised it to 85. This way when the temp did shoot up, it wasn't lethal. I only had 1 deformity out of close to 100 babies. The albinos turned out with pinkish rather than white bands using this method.

Attached is a pic of my male and one of the hatchlings I produced.

See the post bellow for a pic of a sub-adult.

As you can see this method still produced relatively light babies especially considereing the fact that they came from dark parents.
