MY female SHCT still has the runny stooll and that photo as you can see if from the breeder so its before I got it. Besides having humid hide and water at all times is there anything I can do? Also she is eatting well but very skittish if she stop eatting I guess that a bad sign. If I took her to the vet what is the best way the vet should go about?
Thanks
Xavier

The best thing I can suggest is to find a reptile vet in your area. I found a listing on the web (kind of outdated) that led me to my current vet.

You'll want to bring a fecal sample so they can do a fecal float and maybe a smear. That means you'll need fresh feces, the fresher the better. You can put it in plastic wrap & in the refrigerater the night before if you need to but do not freeze it.

I use paper towels for substrate & brought in a used one to show him exactly what the ring looked like.

In my case, I had been told to use to much panacur (a worm medicine). Its relatively safe and has a nice safety margin, but I was told to use 400 times the usually recommended amount.

I gave my leos a dab of live-culture yogurt (on their noses) and am encouraging water drinking by dripping water on their noses from a syringe (no needle). Most seem to be recovering nicely and their stools are looking much better. This is after they were wormed x3 and their most recent fecals have come back clean.

Best of luck to you and your leo! Oh one other thought, double check your temperatures (88-90 warm end, 80 cooler end). If the temperatures are off, leos tend to have runny stools.

Thanks again

Is there any other common cause of this do? Also I'm confused you said overdose of panacur caused it yet your vet had you do three more doses? I'll contact the breeder and see if he did a worming. For how long did you use the yogurt for? I have a herp vet although he isn't on www.avar.com he has been working with herps for like 20 years and he always helped me out.
Thanks

Outside of temps being off and stress, I don't know of any other specifc causes of loose stools .. well, nematode worms and bacteria ...

When my vet gave me the panacur and the dosing info, I didn't question the doseage. My mistake. After the second dose most of my leos had loose stools, with a large water rings surrrounding it. The third dose I halved, but that was still way too much panacur. Now, after giving water directly to the leos (via drops on their nose) several times, all but about 15% have normal stools again. I'm still watching those closely. All are eating fine and showing no other signs of stress, but I won't be comfortable until they are having normal stool as well.

At first I thought they might have another problem as well as the pinworms, perhaps some bacteria or protazoan. That's why I didn't connect the loose stools with my overdosing the poor guys right away.

So - get hold of that vet and let him/her do a fecal. Bring in fresh stool, as fresh as possible. Don't freeze it (refrigerator is ok, but not the freezer). And best of luck to you!
