Question about mice

piteon Nov 24, 2003 04:28 PM

I usually get my mice from the breeder that sold me the snake. I know that he raises healthy mice. Now he's out and won't have any for another week. So I went to a local petshop to get one instead. I brought the mouse home, opened the box and noticed that it's feces aren't like the feces from the mice from the breeder. They are light brown instead of black and they are soft and mushy instead of hard. It almost seems like the mouse has diahrea (sp).

I might be paranoid but I have a feeling that they might have given me a sick mouse because I didn't buy a snake from them. I did visit them to look around when I was looking for a snake but they told me a lot of bull[bleep] and gave me an outragous price for the ball.

Is it normal for the mice's feces to look like that? Do I have a reason to be concerned? Should I wait a week and feed him the breeder's mouse?

Yeah it was a hopper and looked good. I guess I was just paranoid. I'm gonna go ahead and give it to him. Thanks for the reply.

I personally raise all of my own rodents now for my Balls but I am dealing with over a 100 balls to. But when I was purchasing them from a rodent breeder I did stay with the same guy for my rodents. I did definatly stay away from pet stores like Petco, Petsmart etc.. I am not saying by any means they have bad rodents because I know a ton of people feed their snakes with thier rodents, I just didnt do it. I also dont htink the mouse you got is sick either I would probably have to say its the difference in the mouses diet that caused the difference in the poop..

Food 4 thought
