I want to own Bearded Dragons--2 Questions!

SaveFerris Nov 24, 2003 04:35 PM

I plan on buying a 4ft x 2ft tank (or however wide/tall the 4foot tanks are)

--Should i get 1 or 2 beardeds? Will one be happy his whole life alone?

--If i get 2, do they *have* to be a mating pair? I dont want the hassle of eggs/raising babies

Thanks!

One dragon will be just fine by it self. Two males will fight, A male & a female will mate, Two females, well, that's a case by case situation.

I would definitely suggest starting with just one.

Hope that helps.

Agreed. One beardie will be more than enough to keep you busy, and if he/she bonds with you, will be just as happy with only your attention. Two BDs, even if they're littermates, tend to squabble, causing stress between them. Having a male and a female runs the likelihood of pregnancy and a lot of eggs, and two males tend to dominate each other. I've heard that two females generally get along nicer, but can also have their spats. I'd say just stick with one.
