err... I'm getting kinda worried.

eskadol Nov 24, 2003 04:51 PM

Hey,

Well one of my juvenile LEO's hasn't been pooping for the last week, and bearly eating. A week and a half ago, he was doing fine, eating the mealies,pooping... Today I went and got some crickets and hand-fed him 5, he will go after those. All I know that last week he did shed, could that have something to do with it?

Thanks,
David Jones..

I think it's unlikely to still be full from shed a week later. I'd be worried, too. How's his belly look? Is there black/blue over MOST of it, instead of just one small spot? It could be parasites, especially if he's feeding on crix. A vet trip would be advisable before he gets bad. Has he lost weight?

Thanks for replying, well he hasnt really lost weight or anything, the thing thats just kinda freaking me out is that he's not pooping. I checked his belly yesterday and all seems fine to me, just kinda skinny, his tail is'nt really fat, but also not skinny or anything. I think I'll just wait couple more days, but do you really think its parasites?

What type of substrate is he on? If it's sand, he could be impacted. If it's paper towels, I'd worry about parasites or bacterial infection. Is he peeing? Is his tongue really light pink/whitish, or is bright pink/red? The white tongue would indicate dehydration. I just think if a juvie hasn't eaten in days & isn't eliminating, it's a problem, & the quicker you address it, the better.

it could definitely be a problem, so keep an eye out. but if it's just been a week, it might not. i once had an adult not eat for a week and a half, and i'd swear she did it just to mess with me. just make sure to provide food & water, and if much more passes by, take it to the vet. (if it vomits, it's a really bad sign.)
