Thermal Gradient

hicksonj Nov 24, 2003 05:31 PM

I have a pretty tall tank, which has a thermal gradient ranging from 81F to 72F top to bottom. This is caused by CF lights. Is 81F too high? Will the frogs just move up and down top regulate? Should I drop the max temp down a little more? Thanks for reading

Thats perfect actually. The frogs will pick their favorite heights in the vivarium to self-regulate and you have a good range. Good luck!

I have to agree. My tank has a similar gradient (more like 70-78 deg. F. My dart tends to meander a bit, depending on where she feels comfortable. However, I will note that she spends most of her time near the bottom/front of the tank . . . but that's also where I feed her.
