Gecko...withering away...tried it all it seems...is there anything else??

JerMe Nov 24, 2003 05:32 PM

Please help. We have this particular leopard gecko for about 7 months now and it was a hatchling when we got it. For the first 3 months everything was fine. Our other geckos purchased around the same time are still fine as well. Anyway, to the point....this one quit eating. While mainting proper temperatures, providing adequate hide spaces, a moisture box and all of the other basic husbandry items, we have also tried...
A)smashing up crickets and feeding the guts by syringe. No luck.
B)feeding him turkey baby food and plain yogurt. He gobbles it up, but, he later throws it up.
C)Pedialyte, he sucks that stuff down, but it too does not stay down.

We would take him to the vet, however, we cannot get a fecal sample, which is what they would need. He cant keep anything down long enough to digest. The poor guy is withering away to nothing. It is obvious he has a parasite of some sort but i dont know how to tell without a fecal.

Any clues? suggestions? similar stories that ended up good? Anything at all??
Thanks in advance!

a good reptile vet will do a fecal swab. i wpild only suggest a qualified reptile vet, familiar with lizard anatomy, attemmpt this. take the little guy to the vet, they can still possibly help him
