Hey, My ball python doesnt seem to well. I think that she shed to fast of something. Her scales are really soft and flexible and I think she may have old skin in her nose because when breathes it makes a whistiling noise. My male Ball python died yesterday and I dont want to lose her.

-Thanks-

doesnt sound like you are giving it a good environment to live in. If your ball python male died, get this one checked out by a vet. get a necropsy done if you didnt already get rid of the dead one. take care of them. it might be possible R.I. go to a vet and raise overall environment to match the natural one (humidity, heat etc..)

I just had my female snake checked by the vet a week ago. they said she was doing fine and the male was given to me a three days ago by some one who didnt want to take care of it anymore. The female is in a 55 gallon tank with light, heat pads, decor etc. Plus the male didnt look to good to start off. He was in a 5 gallon tank with nothing but a dirty water bowl.

The female is back to breathing normal but that still doesnt explain the whole scale thing. And I'm positive the male died from previous bad care. The previous owner of the male said he didnt eat for almost 3 months. And stopped drinking.

Give me your point of view for the cause of the males death?

Were they even TRYING to heat this 5 gallon? I keep tiny baby sand boas in tanks that size. He was probably being given the wrong EVERYTHING... like anything you could name. So it's not your fault!
With the female, make sure your cage has all the right parameters, and I think she'll be ok.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

The tank the male was in wasnt heated it was in the dark corner of the room. THe female is perfect now, she is drinking and her scales are getting the solid feel to them. she even took her weekly feeding.

Thank you all for your help
