??? about first feeding

spranks Nov 24, 2003 07:24 PM

I just got my ball Friday, and I'm planning on feeding it tomorrow. It was previously fed live mice, so I figure I better feed it live for the first few times and then try to wean him over to f/t.

Here's my question: should I take the snake out of the enclosure to feed it? I know that typically that is how you do it, but I'm wondering if for the first time that might be a little too stressful for him. I haven't picked him up since I got him.

If you have your BP on a substrate that might be injested I'd take it out to feed - if not I just leave my BP in his tank to feed and have had no problems.

I'd try frozen/thawed first and if it doesn't take it then give it live. You never know, it might take the F/T right away. Just an idea.

I would, but he came in a little thin, so I want to some food in him pronto. I use astroturf, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I understand. Best of luck and congrats on your new family member!
