Walking strangly...(MBD?)

Sara2 Nov 24, 2003 07:31 PM

One of my males that I bought in late august seems to be walking kinda funny. His tail goes from side to side much more so then normal and he seems way too low to the ground in the rear.
I have ever had a gecko w/mbd but I was thinking that that may be it. I keep calcium in the tank and dust prey. He isn't a big eater but is a healthy weight/size. I have noticed it off and on for the past month but he seems to stop doing it sometimes so I though he may just be being weird, but it seems worse this week.
His isn't eating much this month but none of mine are since the temp really droped.
Is the funny walk a sign of MBD? and how is it treated?

Thanks

Are there females nearby?

My male albino always does that when he scens a female somewhere nearby. Sounds like yours si about breeding age now? Maybe he's just marking territory with the pre-anal pores.

MBD usually makes the legs look bent midway up the bone or have the ankles or wrists twisted a funny way. The pics here are my female albino's legs when she had MBD. You can see the spongey look they get...

whew...I feel better now. There are females in a few of the tanks near by him And he started doing it more when i took him out to clean his cage, and when I put him back. So maybe that is it I just though it was odd he was doing it when I had him in another container to clean his cage. There are also other males in nearby cages too.

I am going to keep an eye on him though since he seems to be doing it constantly this week.

thank you.
