tank set up

hello everyone. I've been on here before askin' about garter snakes. I'm a corn snake breeder but I really like the look and feeding of garters, so i was wondering something. Anyone have a picture of a really good tank set up for a garter snake? I know they are very aquatic, unlike my corn snakes, and I was wondering if anyone could post a picture of something cool that I might want to set up. Just curious. For fun, I'm posting a cage I built for my corns. It's four feet tall, four feet wide, two feet deep, and on rollers. opens in back. Lighting is through the wood, but there's no way for it to hold water. Any thoughts?

I do not have any pictures but I am presently working with 9 varieties of Garters. I keep mine in plastic storage containers with minimal set up; a hide box; paper, bark, gravel or care fresh substrate, and a water bowl. Do not be misled by the "aquatic" nature of Garter Snakes. A water bowl large enough to soak and move around in a little is ample. These animals are very suceptable to damp cage conditions and need to be dry like other snakes. House them like typical N American Colubrids with a water bowl slightly larger than what you would use for the average snakes. Many more terrestrial Garters do not even require this. Not quite as temp sensative as constrictors but still need warmth. Garters are great pets. I hope this helps.

I have two eastern garters. Both are not longer than 12 inches. Currently they are in a 10 gallon tank. I purchased a 3x10 tile from home depot, and used aquarium caulk to make a 3x3x3 pool of water for them to swim in. My first eastern never used it, and I thought it was a waste, as my overall goal was for them to be able to hunt in it. But the second garter sits and swims in it almost more than the other 7 inches of the tank, which has 2 hides, and a warm area. So hopefully he starts nabbing the rosy reds I have in there. I hope this helps somewhat.
