natural sand for Nephrurus levis levis?

compasscreek Nov 24, 2003 10:50 PM

i have an interest in Nephrurus levis levis and read that natural sand would be the best for them in the enclosure. i know a very good spot with unspoiled sand(no offroaders ect.)but i am concerned with parasites or other small potentially harm "critters". is this an issue for the Nephrurus levis levis?

I usually will not recommend any natural sand simply because there can be bacteria and so forth that you cant even see which is not native to their environment. This could pose a threat to the gecko and although it is not certain, I would still play it safe and not do it. Then again, you really have to ask yourself which company to trust because they may very well be just taking sand from that spot of yours. Most do boil or kiln dry it though....most.....
