update on BRB that won't eat...

ngiovas Nov 25, 2003 07:22 AM

Just a quick update on my BRB that won't eat. I have removed all of the moss from his cage. It only has newspaper, a water bowl and two hides (as it was at the breeders). Temps on the warm side are in the low to mid 80s and low 70s on the cool side.

I tried feeding him again last night. I left 2 F/T mice in the cage over night and had no luck. Every time I check on him he is in a new spot, but he always seems to be hiding under the newspaper on the cool side. I don't know if this indicates anything.

I will keep trying to feed him every 2-3 days.

Nick,
I've been reading your posts/replies as they come and don't have an answer for you, nor do I remember if you ever posted about the location your enclosure was kept and what type it is. I was curious if your snake is kept near a source of distraction like a refrigerator that vibrates, a stereo, a door that is opened and closed often, a microvave or something of that nature? And exactly how long it has been since it ate the last meal? If you have different sources where you live, you might want to try getting a hopper from a different place. There are only 2 places to get feeders where I live, and each place has has a different supplier, they seem to be housed on different bedding and eat different diets, maybe you could try another source.

I wondered if fresh killed small gerbils or hampsters would entice it to eat, or a technique that I think is called "braining" would help. I wouldn't do that unless someone better quailified suggested it.
