***Help*** Lost snake in apartment!!!

Lunarfaze Nov 25, 2003 09:17 AM

Hey guys. This morning when I went to check on my 2 king snakes, one of them was missing from his cage. The cage is a 10 Gal terr. It had a screen top on it which was still on it and closed and had a shelf on top of that so that the cat would not sit on the cage. There was no visible areas of exit, however, I know that King Snakes are escape artists. I lost a 5 footer 7 years ago and never found him.

This guy a 18" long, about as think as my pointer finger. He's totally tame. But he's gone. Where on earth should I start top look? I did about a 30 minute search this morning abd nothing. Lokked under the fridge and oven (my his cage), the seats and couch, blankets, so on. But he could be anywhere!

Any suggestions on where to look or how to lure gim out? He should be ready to east this week too.

Thanks. BTW, for now, cat will be locked in the bathroom.

The cat is your problem. It will kill the snake if it can (cat toy). It the very best it will make sure the king stays hidden. Your best bet is to go to bed and then get up say about an hour or so after lights out. patrol the house with a flashlight only and look low. That is how I have usually found mine....Except for the 4' Brooks my cat herded across the living room in the afternoon.

Thanks for the reply. At lunch, I came home and started looking. I thought as a snake. I said, if I was a snake, where would be the first place I would feel comfortable at?

The closet!

There is a small crack under the door into the hall closet where it is nice, quiet, and dark. I get my flash light, move a few things around, and there he is, curled up on a blanket in a dark corner.

I'm so thank for.

Taped the cage closed this time.
