I am currently checking out these cool lizards. They are truly beautiful, and I'm wondering what the most commonly kept species is? And also: I've heard that they hav a ver fargile skin, is this true?
Thanks In Advance

From my understanding of common names, Frog eye gecko=Wonder Gecko=Fish scale gecko=Teratoscincus Scincus (or at least thats how our shop handles them). These geckos are known to be skittish and said to be fragile skinned. The ones we get in are generally pretty tame (like a leopard) and although the skin does seem fragile, due to the fact that they always behave so well nobody grabs them and we have yet to rip any skin. From my experience, they make great pets even for beginners (provided that they get the right info and allot the proper time).

I see lots of Teratoscincus microlepis at shows too. Probably not that much different. I was at a local petstore and asked how much the moon gecko was, and the lady said. "No, it's a wondering gecko!"... So you pretty much can call them whatever you want
. Pretty confusing. I've found most sellers don't know which subspecies they have, and sometimes not even which species.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
I have a Tibetian Giant Frog-eyed Gecko. He is pretty cool but you can't handle him at all. Yes his skin is pretty fragile but he's meaner than a Tokay.
I have had the little guy for about two years, and his former owner had him for 5 years.
The thing I love best about him...the rattlesnake tail shake. When he gets mad, he shakes his tail and it sounds like a rattlesnake.
