nearly one-year old is acting strange

I have a baby eastern box turtle that is probably about ten months old. He will definitely be at least a year old by February.

He grew a lot over the summer, and he looks mature, healthy, and is very active. In the past month, however, his eating has nearly ceased. He used to gobble up blood worms, reptomin, crickets, and all kind of fruits and vegetables like it was his job. Now he only takes such tiny nibbles that I'm always very unsure whether he is eating or not.

Strangely enough, his activity level has remained high. He is exploring his enclosure, climbing things, and his skin and shell are developing quite nicely.

Do turtles sometimes take a hiatus from food, even if they are otherwise healthy and active? Has anyone else had experience with this?

Many turtles and tortoises decrease their intake over the winter months. What exactly causes this is anyones guess. Mine is the light and the temperature decrease that usually follows the winter months. I really think that it is the drop in the average temperature that gets em going in that direction the most though.
