venom questions?

alkee42 Nov 25, 2003 01:47 PM

First of all if someone was bitten by lets say by a Canereak could the antivenom of a Northern pacific be used for treatment or does every rattlesnake have their own antivenom? Qustion nuber 2 is how toxic is the venom of the Trimeresurus species I know it will vary with snake, so how about Waglers temple vipers, mangrove, purple spot, and white lipped vipers? Are they considerd life threatening or something that if you got bit by you would need to get checked out for a while but not need antivenom? Also is there an antivenom for Treimerasurus because I no there is none for african bush vipers and other atheris? Anywyas just curious about these things.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy McManmon

The antivenoms they make for rattlesnakes cover all rattlers in the US, so they use the same thing no matter what you get bitten by.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
